GARNER – Jarvis Dwight Atkins, 80, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday. A native of Wake County, he was the son of the late Luther Dwight and Marjorie Graham Atkins. He served his country proudly for 4 years in the Army National Guard. After his service, he was employed by Carolina Power Light Company. He retired after being inducted into The Pioneer Club and completed 26 years of service. A longtime member of Hollands United Methodist Church, he participated in numerous athletic programs and fundraisers. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Thursday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Rd., Garner, NC 27529. A graveside service will held 12:30 pm Friday at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington St., Raleigh, NC 27603. Jarvis is survived by Jean B. Atkins, his beloved wife of 58 years; daughters, Leigh Anne Atkins Harris (Ricky) and Pam Atkins Adams (Ronnie) ; grandchildren, April Lombard (Miquel), Ashleigh Harris, Bayleigh Adams and Kasey Adams; great-grandchildren, Alaina Lombard, Luke Lombard; nephew, Timothy Cunningham; sister, Mary Atkins Mundy of Garner and nieces and nephews; special friends, Ruth Lacy, Margaret Hryninck. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
