J.D. Wooten, Jr.

RALEIGH- John David Wooten, Jr., 83, passed away on Tuesday at Morningside Assisted Living. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Friday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. Burial will follow at Friendship Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, Middlesex, NC. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00-8:00 pm at Bryan-Lee funeral Home, Garner. Mr. Wooten was preceded in death by his parents, John D. and Minnie Webb Wooten; brothers, Edward, Eugene, James, and David Earl Wooten; sisters, Ella Nora Andrews, Becky Mills, Allene Mills and Ruth Cummings. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Corbett Wooten of Morningside Assisted Living; his daughters, Julia M. Wooten and her husband, Jerry of Willow Spring and Jane W. Ayers and her husband, Brian of N. Augusta, SC; his son, John D. Wooten, III, MD and wife, Fran of Raleigh; a sister, Mable Wooten of Tarboro; grandsons, John David, Christopher, Michael, and Nathaniel Wooten; granddaughters, Rachel and Madison Ayers. Mr. Wooten served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from the N.C. Banking Commission after 30 years of service.
