Jean Kincaid Goodnight

Garner - Jean Kincaid Goodnight, 84, died Tuesday. A native of Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Roy Carl Kincaid and Veda Brooks Kincaid.Jean was a dedicated wife and mother. Her family, which she loved and respected deeply, always came first. She was quiet and unassuming but we all knew she was our biggest fan in whatever we were into at the time, whether it be going crazy over NC States Monte Towe or spending time together reading. She taught us to treat others as we would want to be treated and everyone deserved respect. In her opinion, her grandchildren were the smartest and greatest ever. She loved keeping them and made sure they had their favorite snacks. She loved her sons-in law and daughter-in-law as her own. Jean had a quiet strength that sometimes would surprise you. She will be missed everyday by her family and friends. We are at peace knowing that she is with the Lord and well see her again one day. There will be a visitation Saturday from 10 -12 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. A private family burial will take place after the visitation.Survivors include her daughters, Sheilia Griffis (Richard) of Morehead City; Andrea Horne (Phil) of Trinity; Kerry Campbell (Paul) of Garner; daughter-in-law, Janet Goodnight of AK; grandchildren, Bryan and Breanne Campbell of Garner, Drew Horne of Trinity, Laura Murray and Andy Goodnight of AK, as well as four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Andrew Fowler Goodnight; son, Barry Goodnight; sisters, Betty K. Goodnight and Ruth K. Merritt; brother, Carl Kincaid. The family would like to thank Lawndale Manor for their kindness and care of our mother over the last four years.
