GARNER – Jeanne Dupree Johnson, died peacefully at home on February 16, 2019. Jeanne was born to John Elmond Dupree and Mattie Brickhouse Dupree on August 30, 1934 in her hometown of Angier, NC. After graduating high school, she attended East Carolina College in Greenville where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art and English. She married Carl Edward Johnson, Jr. “Sonny,” of Raleigh in 1956. Of this union, Lynda Carol and Nancy Croom Johnson were born. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, J.E. Jr., sister-in-law, Nancy and her first husband, Carl. She was also predeceased by her Second husband, Wilbert W. “Gabe” Adams and her son-in-law, Allen Gregory of Hickory. Jeanne is survived by her daughters, Lynda Johnson Gregory (Allen), Nancy Johnson Packard (Tim); Grandchildren, Shannon Gregory, Dixon, (Casey), Rachel Gregory and Landon Gregory of Hickory, Jennifer Packard, Brian Packard; Great grandchildren, Madison and Preston of Garner; Nieces, Deborah Dupree Hill (Buddy) and Elizabeth of Woodstock, GA; Great niece, Sarah Hill Barnes (Michael) and Daughter Sophia. Jeanne was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Garner where she was active in church life. An avid reader, she was a member of the Clara Craven Book Club and the Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club. She was a “starter and stopper” of many different “artsy and crafty” things and dabbled in a little recreational painting. Thanks is also extended to caregivers Sarah, Jan, Nicole, Charlotte, the Transitions LifeCare team, Gloria, Tammy, Joy, Jessica, Amy and all her wonderful friends who were there for her when she needed them most.
