Jeanne M. Lee

RALEIGH Jeanne Elizabeth Marion Lee of Raleigh died on January 24, 2021 at the age of 94. She was born in Pittston, PA on March 22, 1926, to the late Ambrose Francis Marion and Eleanor Miller Marion, the youngest of 4 children. After many cold winters in the north, her adventurous spirit led her to Miami, FL, where she met and married her husband, George Lee. They settled and raised their family in Raleigh. Jeanne loved cooking for her family, sunny vacations at the beach, lively games of bridge with longtime friends and neighbors, and cheering for the Wolfpack! Jeanne was a lifelong fan of all things Frank Sinatra. She knew every word to his songs and loved to sing along! In addition to her parents, Jeanne was predeceased by her sisters, Eleanor Baran and Catherine Axelson; and her brother, Phillip Marion. George R. Lee, Sr., her husband of 52 years, passed away in 2003. Surviving are her children, Ellen Lee (Tommy); sons, George R. “Bobby” Lee, Jr. of Raleigh, James “Pat” Lee (Andrea) of Midlothian, VA; grandchildren, Elizabeth (James) Kirby, Mary Catherine (Chad) Whitley, Katie (Alex) Lee and Eric (Sarah) Lee; and great grandsons, Thompson and Fletcher Kirby. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, a service will not be held at this time.
