Jeri P. Massey

Jeri P. Massey Raleigh - Jeri Lee Powell Massey, 55, of Raleigh died Monday from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Mrs. Massey is survived by her husband, William M. Massey; two sons, Jeffrey M. Massey and his wife Lauren and their 4 year old son, Brayden, and Jonathan H. Massey and Sarah Evans, all of Raleigh; sister, Judith Powell Butler of Chesnee, SC; and brother, John R. Powell of Chesnee, SC. Jeri was born in Washington, DC and was a graduate of FairfaxHigh School, Fairfax, VA. She relocated to Raleigh in 1975 where she met Bill, the love of her life. They were married three years later. Jeri was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2007. After surgery and extensive chemotherapy treatments, she was declared on the road back to health. She celebrated her 5th anniversary of being cancer-free in March of this year. Jeri was full of life. She faced her cancer diagnosis with strength and humor. She was a beacon of light to everyone she met. Her grandson was the light of her life, and a granddaughter due in December would have been an additional star. Jeri touched so many lives and was loved by so many too numerous to mention. She will be missed by one and all. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh.
