Jerry Lee Hill

CLAYTON - Jerry Lee Hill, born in Cartersville, SC on July 14, 1948 of Clayton, NC passed away on January 29, 2021 after a period of declining health at Johnston Health Hospital. He was proceeded in death by his parents Ned Simon and Doretha Hill; his sister Peggy S Sheets, and nephew Timothy Simon Sheets. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Boone Hill, his sons Christopher (Melissa) and Michael (Michelle); grandchildren Grace, Lillyan Hill, Jazyln and Chay Bagan; and nephews Davy Sheets and Angie (Sheets) Blankenship. Jerry, was the first person in his family to earn his college degree. He earned his college degrees while working and raising his family. He earned his Associates, Bachelor’s and later his MBA (1996) from Averett College (Danville, VA). Jerry proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in the US Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. Jerry started his career with Siemens, Greensboro, NC, and successfully climbed the corporate ladder, culminating as a VP for Kollmorgan and a Sr Logistics Manager for Siemens Medical Systems. To his colleagues, Jerry was known as a mentor, fair, hard-working and always willing to work together to get the job done. He always recognized his team and their efforts. Jerry was quick to recognize and give credit where it was due. To his beloved family and friends, Jerry was always welcoming with a warm smile, kind, humble; he always put everyone before himself. Jerry was a living example of selfless service to everyone he met, and quick to help anyone in need or lend a hand. In retirement, he assumed various leadership roles in his local homeowner’s association and was very active in the American Legion. At the time of his passing, he was serving as Commander of Post 71 Leonard Moore, Clayton, NC. Jerry truly was and will always be known as “the man you could always count on.” Jerry in his leisure loved watching sci-fi movies, cruises to exotic locations, and going to the gun range. He enjoyed traveling to spend time with his family and friends. Although the family will not be present, Jerry will lie in state on Tuesday from 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home 1200 Benson Rd. Garner, NC 27529, for the public to pay their respects. A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran at 2920 NC-42 Clayton, NC on Wednesday at 2:00 PM. A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 5th at 11:00 AM at Hampton Memorial Gardens, Hampton VA, for his final resting place.
