Jerry Maxwell West

Wendell – Jerry Maxwell West, 72, went to be with his Lord and Savior early Wednesday morning. A native of Wake County, he was the son of the late Jasper and Eva Mae Matthews. He was a loving husband, daddy, Papa, brother and friend who was a true man of God, spreading the word daily. The funeral service will be 1:30 Saturday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Garner. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will greet friends following the committal service at Montlawn . Mr. West will lie in state at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home Friday from 1:00 – 4:00 pm for those wishing to pay respects and sign the guest register. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn West; sons, Marty Ray Parker (Shannon Ellis) and Jerry Dwayne Parker (Jessica); grandchildren, Gracie Rae Parker, Dallas Matthew Parker, Samantha Gail Parker and Kolby Ray Parker; sisters, Shirley Surles (Jerry) and Joyce Wall (C.B.); brothers, John West (Susan Voshel), Mike West (Bonnie),and Joey Matthews (Julie), as well as a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Jason Hugh West.
