Jesse M. Walton, Jr.

April 12, 1951 — September 2, 2016

Jesse M. Walton, Jr., 65, passed away peacefully after an extended illness on Friday at his home.  Today we lost a husband, father, grandfather, best friend, and most of all a man of God, who’s convictions were contagious. Though we are deeply saddened today, we find comfort knowing that he is at peace in heaven now. He was born in Lenoir County to the late Jesse M. Walton, Jr. and Mildred Baysden Walton who survives him today and he was a veteran of the US Air Force.Jesse was an avid NC State Football Fan. He loved his wolfpack. You could ask him anything about the team and he knew all the statistics of the players. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:00 PM on Saturday-Sept. 10, 2016 at  Benson Grove Baptist Church, 6966 Hwy 50 Benson, NC with military honors.  The family will receive friends after the service at the church. He is survived in addition by his mother; his wife: Barbara Hines Walton. a daughter:  Meredith Walton of High Point and one son: David Lewis Walton and wife, Jessica of Lexington, A sister; Janet Duncan and husband, Lee of Raleigh. Six-grandchildren. A very special niece , Maria and many cousins. In lieu of flowers, you  may  make a donation in his honor to Benson Grove Baptist Church “ Senior Bus Fund “ 6966 NC  50 Benson, NC 27504. Jesse loved the Lord, and was not afraid to share his faith. The past few years he had been in and out of Duke University Hospital. He was able to tell everyone that came through his door about Jesus. He was bold and not afraid of rejection. May we all be as bold as he was. He is greatly missed but we are assured we will see him again one sweet day! There is a candle in every soul Some brightly burning, some dark and cold There is a Spirit who brings a fire Ignites a candle and makes His home So carry your candle, run to the darkness Seek out the helpless, confused and torn Hold out your candle for all to see it Take your candle, and go light your world Take your candle, and go light your world Frustrated brother, see how hes tried to Light his own candle some other way See now your sister, shes been robbed and lied to Still holds a candle without a flame So Carry your candle, run to the darkness Seek out the lonely, the tired and worn Hold out your candle for all to see it Take your candle, and go light your world Take your candle, and go light your world Cause We are a family whose hearts are blazing So lets raise our candles and light up the sky Praying to our Father, in the name of Jesus Make us a beacon in darkest times So Carry your candle, run to the darkness Seek out the helpless, deceived and poor Hold out your candle for all to see it Take your candle, and go light your world Carry your candle, run to the darkness Seek out the helpless, confused and torn Hold out your candle for all to see it Take your candle, and go light your world Take your candle, and go light your world Take your candle, and go light your world
