Jessie Poole

Jessie Howell Poole passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023 at her residence in Youngsville. She was the wife of the late Carl Poole. The youngest of six daughters of the late Zylphia and Jesse Howell, she was born in Raleigh on February 15, 1930. While growing up, she was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and attended Hugh Morson High School, the class of 1949. Her father was a very loving and caring especially after her mother passed away when she was twelve. Her sisters were very dear to her. She later became a member of Inwood Baptist Church for many years. She and Carl were married for 69 years when he passed away in 2017. She enjoyed the family gatherings and holidays at her house while treasuring the time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her nieces, nephews and friends were also special to her.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Poole Ablecop: her sons, Michael Poole and wife, Cindy and David Poole and wife Amy; grandchildren, Angela Champion, Timothy Poole, Barry Byrd, Blair Poole, Brooke Baker, Mary Welch, Tracy Gauthier, Sabrina Carpenter, Brenda Poole, Jessica Ablecop; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Carl Poole and son Carl Poole, Jr. Also, her grandson Robert Poole and great-grandson Jaetyn Hester, as well as granddaughter Dana Tipton Cavalcante; sisters- Alice Smith, Dorothy Howell, Ethel Francis, Sadie Phipps, and Adna Johnson; brother Henry Cary Howell, daughter-n-law Connie Poole, and nieces Jewel Kunnert and Jackie Nance.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Wednesday at Caraleigh Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am – 11:00 am before the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Caraleigh Baptist Church, 1400 Green Street, Raleigh, NC 27603.
