RALEIGH- Jimmie E. Wall, 75, of Whitaker Glen Retirement Center, died Tuesday. A native of Wake County, he was the son of the late Doris Goodwin and Lattie L. Wall. Jimmie was a 1955 graduate of Needham Broughton High School and a 1959 graduate of East Carolina University, member of Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity and selected to Whos Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. He retired from the field of Education with 32 years of service and worked part-time at Fallons Florist for over 30 years. He was an Honorary Life Member of North Carolina Association of Educational Office Personnel and North Carolina Association of School Business Officials. Jimmie grew up as a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and in 1990, moved to Hayes Barton UMC. He served there as Sunday school teacher, Lay Leader, numerous committees and was a certified lay speaker and Stephen Minister Leader. He served on the Board of Directors for the Heart of Carolina Emmaus Community. He was an active member of the Raleigh Kennel Club, North Carolina & Wake County Democratic Party, North Carolina State Employees Association and served on the North Carolina Board of Natural History and the Wake County Council of Aging.His happiest moments were in his kitchen, especially when he was cooking for someone else. Jimmies home was always adorned with fresh flowers and blooming orchids and other plants. His favorite foliage plants were the variegated ones. He enjoyed traveling and teaching. Helping others was his entire purpose in life!Jimmie is survived by a host of relatives and close friends. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Thursday at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church. Everyone is invited to a reception immediately following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.
