Jimmy Lee Mitchell, Sr, 76, of Fuquay-Varina, NC was born on April 5, 1947. He passed away on April 7, 2023.
He loved and was very proud of his wife and his family. He would tell everyone he met how he and his wife, Elizabeth Jean, met and how long they had been married. He always protected and prayed over his family because he loved all of them so much. Each person had a different relationship with him and treasured it. He was a family man who always put the needs of others before himself. Humble, selfless, tender hearted, funny, and giving are just a few words that his family uses when they talk about him. He was always there for his family, and he loved all of them and never turned his back on anyone. He always reminded them that he wasn’t perfect, but that Jesus was his Savior and wanted all his family to lean on Jesus. One of the most special memories the family has is that every time we got together as a family at their house, before mama said the blessing, he would always tell them how much he loved them and wanted them to be sure that they had their lives right with Jesus. They all had a tear in their eye when papa spoke.
He was a hardworking man his whole life It made him happy to be able to help someone else. He was known to everyone as “papa”. He was always joking around and being mischievous with people he knew or didn’t know. Anyone that had the pleasure of meeting him would always leave laughing and with a smile on his face.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Jean Mitchell; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and David Dunn, daughter Regina Stanley and son Jimmy Mitchell, Jr.; grandkids, Crystal, Joshua, Bradley, Jacob, Jessica and Courtney; great grandkids, Payten, Aiden, Skyler, Tyrance, Zoie, Levi, Makenzie, Maddison, Chloe, Bentley, Caroline, Addison, Macklyn, Laker, Camden; sisters, Margaret, Renee, and Sandra; brothers, Calvin Jr. and Ricky: nieces and nephews and many friends.
