WILLOW SPRING - Joan Patricia Lucas Grube, 93, passed away Wednesday, June 5th, 2024. She was born in Suffolk County, Long Island, New York on November 14, 1930, the daughter of the late William Robert Lucas and Ann Davis Lucas.
Joan was a loving and dedicated wife and mother. Special to so many people, Joan was known for her humble and caring personality; always putting others first. She was the caregiver for her mother, aunt, and mother-in-law. Joan had a wonderful gift of hospitality and enjoyed cooking her special recipes for family and friends. She had an eye for beauty and detail. In addition to that, she was a good planner and very well organized. Joan was sensible and always offered wise counsel. She had a deep love for children and animals. Her beautiful soprano singing voice filled the home as she went about daily life. Her strong faith in God carried her through difficult times and even during hardship, she encouraged and inspired others.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, George William Grube; sister, Arlene Banks; brother, William “Bill” Robert Lucas, Jr.; son-in-law, Anthony “Tony” J. Gravagna; and daughter-in-law, Carol Kollhopp.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Stadiem and husband, Dr. Michael Stadiem of Willow Spring; sons, Frederick William Kollhopp, Jr. and fiancé, Yvonne Rose Gurule of Pahrump, NV; Harry Werner Grube and wife Raymie of Willow Spring; Robert “Bobby” Grube and wife, Kellie Kossman of Long Island, NY; step daughter, Janice Camacho and husband Tom of York, PA; grandchildren, Frederick “Freddy” William Kollhopp, II, William “Billy” Kollhopp, James “Jimmy” Kollhopp, Lacey Kollhopp, Sara Taylor and husband, Joshua, Melissa Leppla, Benjamin Grube and wife, Kate, Joshua Grube, Samuel Grube, Matthew Grube and wife, Sarah, Megan Thorpe and husband, Allen; great grandchildren, Chelsey, Christopher, Zolee, Stone, Carver, Eleanor, Quinn, Maci, Gunnar; great-great grandchildren Kali, Cobi, Milani; nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 300 E. McIver Street, Angier, NC 27501, on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 7:00-9:00 PM. A private graveside service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Maplewood Cemetery in Clayton, NC, immediately followed by a 1:00 PM Celebration of Life Service at West Clayton Church of God, 143 Short Johnson Road, Clayton, NC 27520.
