Joe Edward Prater

Angier, NC- Joe Edward Prater, 67, our beloved husband, father, and papaw, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 2, at his home in Angier, NC. A native of Buchanan County, Virginia, where he lived his whole life before retiring, he was the son of the late Roy Lewis Prater and Mandy Belcher Ramsey. He was of the Christian faith, a retired coal miner, enjoyed a good round of golf, and loved nothing more than spending time with his wife of 49 years, children, and grandsons.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Tom Ramsey and two brothers, James Prater and Dean Prater.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Melinda Foster Prater; 2-children, Tommy "TJ" (Emily) Prater of Hiltons, VA, Kristen (Wesley) Stiltner of Fuquay-Varina; 3-grandchildren, Brady Stiltner, Knox Prater, and Max Stiltner; and 1-sister, Norma Jean (Clinton) Wolford of Max Meadows, VA.

At this time no services have been scheduled. The family are arranging final wishes and having many moments basking in memories and celebrating his full, blessed, and very special life.
