Joe Sears

April 17, 1949 — March 17, 2024

Benny Joe Sears, 74, went to be with the Lord on March 17, 2024 after a two and a half year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a life-long Harnett County resident and was born to the late Coy and Exie Lee Sears on April 17, 1949.


Joe was the husband to the late Barbara Vaughan Sears for 40 years. He is survived by their children BJ Sears, and Karla Allen, husband Patrick, and grandchildren, Mikayla and Rilee Allen; sister, Brenda Harrell and husband, Linwood; brother, Carson Sears and wife, Ernestine; brother, Johnnie Sears and wife, Glindra.


In addition to his parents and wife, Joe was preceeded in death by his brother, Wayne Sears and sister, Peggy Sears.


Joe was a custom builder for 40 plus years as well as an avid recreational, commercial and professional fisherman with his brother Johnnie. After retirement, he became known as the community produce and egg man. He greatly loved his family, Duncan community residents, and his Baptist Grove Baptist Church family.


His last few months were spent out in the yard with his chickens and farm animals enjoying God’s creations.


A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, March 22nd at Baptist Grove Baptist Church, 6140 Christian Light Rd. Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526. The family will receive friends and have light refreshments in the fellowship hall following the service.
