With full hearts, we are deeply saddened that John Boehm, aged 79, passed on at the UNC Hospital on Wednesday, May 15th, 2019. John was born in Hamburg Germany on Sunday, November 19, 1939. That same year the Boehm family fled to upper Selia. Six years later in 1945 the Boehm family once again returned to Hamburg where John had to attend school in a gymnasium. In 1956 his family migrated to Lefton Illinois, and one year later they moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana. John graduated high school, and then attended Indiana University. In 1958 he began his career with International Harvester. Fifteen years later in 1973, he was able to return to Guenuburg Germany. He had switched companies and began working for Mengele until 1977. John’s greatest asset to his company was the fact that he spoke five languages, therefore was able to travel all over the world conducting business while also fulfilling his passion of traveling. In 1978, John moved to Madison Wisconsin where he finished out his career with the now merged company Krone Niemayer Mengele. John later became a manager in marketing with an air purification company where he met his wife Dorothy. In 1995 he left the air business to pursue a renovation profession. John was an all-around handyman who later used his skills working with his wife in their renovation business until he retired. John was a friend to all and had many who will continue to cherish him in their hearts. John is proceeded in death by his daughter Heidi. Survived by his wife Dorothy Boehm, sister Marianne Schneider, with her husband Ludwig and nephew Daniel. His son John and daughter Chrisitina. Stepson John C. Schebig, Walter Small III with wife Leanna, and stepdaughters Kim Schebig, and Cheri Small. His grandchildren, Samantha, Nikolas, Walter IV, and Mason. In loving memory, his family and friends may smile to think of the wise, humble and golden-hearted man that was John. He was also a good Christian, a peacemaker who always acted out of kindness. Those who talked with John knew what a wonderful listener he was. One of John’s favorite quotes is by Plato, “Wise men talk because they have something to say. Fools talk because they have to say something.” John was the wise man. Public viewing for John Boehm will be at Wake Memorial Mausoleum on Saturday, May 18th at 12:15pm followed by a service at 1:00 pm. Thoughts and prayers go out to all who loved him.
