RALEIGH - John A. Sizer, Jr., 74, of Raleigh, NC passed away on March 11, 2022, after a short but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on June 20, 1947, in Oak Park, IL, the son of Jack and Patty (Bliss) Sizer. John attended Oak Park and River Forest High School and later graduated from Baker University, where he met Karen Baumgardner, who was to become his wife of 53 years. John and Karen lived for many years in Sugar Grove, IL and later Geneva, IL. John found his true calling in law enforcement and particularly loved investigative work. He retired as an investigator with the Sugar Grove Police Department in 2012. Following retirement, he enjoyed travel, photography, concerts, woodworking, and taking long walks with his granddog. John is survived by his wife, Karen; daughter, Shay (Bruce) Mason of Raleigh, NC; and grandchildren, Abigail and Avery Mason. He is also survived by a sister, Diana (Ron) Shaw of Madison, WI. Arrangements are being handled by Bryan-Lee Funeral Home of Raleigh. A private service will be held at Church of the Apostles, Raleigh, NC. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
