APR. 2, 1924 - JULY 27, 2011 ANGIER- John Benjamin J. B. Chatham, 87, passed away July 27, 2011 at his home. He was born to Ben and Lennel Chatham. J.B. served his country aboard the USS Stembell during World War II. He traveled extensively as a service manager with Morris and Associates until his retirement in 1987. He never met a stranger and freely distributed buckeyes, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. J.B. loved the Lord and served as a Sunday School teacher and deacon at Kennebec. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Frances; daughters, Kay Ennis and husband Ken of Angier, Donna Goodwin and husband Darryl of Clayton; son, John Chatham and wife Brenda of Fuquay-Varina; five granddaughters, Bridget Armstrong of Lillington, Corrie Campbell and husband Joey of Columbia SC, Johnna Modlin and husband Greg of Greenville, Robyn and Haley Goodwin of Clayton; six great-grandchildren; and brothers Bob Chatham of Garner, and Henry Chatham of Ashville. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant son, brother Ray Chatham, and sisters Edith Perry and Frances King. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 Saturday at Kennebec Baptist Church. Burial to follow at Willow Spring Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier, and at other times at the home.
