RALEIGH -Our father, John Buffaloe, Jr of Lake Wheeler Road, Raleigh, passed away on Friday, June first, at the age of eighty-two.He was a faithful husband to his late wife (Thelma Buffaloe): and a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.A native of Wake Co. he was the son of the late John Buffaloe, Sr. and Betty Stewart Buffaloe.He was a committed Christian and a hard working man who started and ran a number of businesses in Wake and surrounding counties throughout his life, including the founding of Buffaloe Lanes.He played an important part in the early years of Wake Christian Academy and served on its Board of Directors for over twenty years.He also served for many years as a deacon at his church through which he supported numerous ministries..Our father was the patriarch of our family.The end of his life represents to us the end of an era, yet he has left to us a legacy that has and will continue to enrich our lives for many years to come.Growing up on a small farm in Wake County during the depression, he experienced a life of hardships and small beginnings.Those things did not defeat him but put into him a determination and grit that spurred him onto accomplish things that far surpassed his meager start in life and his tenth grade education.Though he achieved a great deal of success in business he never forgot where he came from.He was always careful to give God the credit for his success in life and continued to drive a beat up, brown Ford F-150 pickup truck until he was well into his seventies.He was also careful to give God the glory for saving his soul and was not shy to tell anyone what Christ did for him.Funeral Services will be at Catawba Springs Christian Church, Wednesday at 11 AM , with burial to follow in the church cemetery.Surviving are two daughters and three sons, Sandra Buffaloe Therit and husband, David; Pamela Buffaloe Jeffcott and husband;Clint; John Michael Buffaloe and wife, Christie, Richard Wayne Buffaloe and wife, Connie and William Randell Buffaloe and wife, Beth. Also surviving are twenty-two grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marion Williams and Betsy Faye Dupree, and two brothers, Lacy Buffaloe and William Buffaloe.The family will receive family and friends, Tuesday 6-8 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.We want to thank all of those in the community, his family, and his church, who called our father their friend.We especially want to thank Pat, his good friend and ours, for her dear friendship following the death of our mother.Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night.He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. {Psalms 1: 1-3)
