John David Benton, Sr.

September 8, 1932 — July 18, 2015

John David Benton, Sr., 82 passed away at home surrounded by his loving children. John was a Raleigh business owner and worked for many years as an Iron worker building television towers across the country. John proudly served his country in the Army and U.S. Marines during the KoreanWar. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 PM prior to the service. There will be a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Maskil Fellowship Hall. Burial will follow at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. John was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Sarah J. Benton; sisters, Mildred Fairfax and Grace Carter; brother, A.J. Benton. He is survived by his children; Lori Stikeleather and husband Gene; John D. Benton, Jr.; Debbie Baratta and husband Mark, Barry Hayes, Kathy Whitman, Ronnie Hayes and wife Linda; brothers, Robert Benton and wife Katie, Paul Benton and special friend Carol, Daniel Benton; grandchildren, Joseph, Jake and Rachel Stikeleather, Sarah and Larissa Benton, Kenneth Faircloth, Wesley Williams, Charles Chamblee, II, Christy Rice and Brian Hayes; great-grandchildren, Brooke Rice, Rebecca Rice and Evan Stikeleather, Lakisa Chamblee.
