John Frank Villella

Garner – John Frank Villella, 79, passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021. John was born July 21, 1942, to the late John Baptista and Mary V. D’Amico Villella. John loved spending time with his family, especially his beloved wife, Miriam. John was proud to have opened the first Subway restaurant in North Carolina. Some of his favorite things were watching Miami Hurricanes football, fishing, going to the beach, drag racing, and he loved coaching youth sports, including Pop Warner football and Little League baseball. He was a member of the Jaycee’s and loved playing softball in his adult years. A Funeral mass will be held Thursday, October 14, 2021, at 1pm, at St. Mary Mother of the Church, 1008 Vandora Springs Road, Garner, NC 27529. Interment will follow at Historic Oakwood Cemetery, 701 Oakwood Ave. Raleigh, NC 27601. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 13, 2021, from 6-8pm, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529. John is survived by his wife, Miriam Villella; sons, Kurt Thomas Villella and fiancé, Donna Riggs and Todd Matthew Villella and wife, Lisa; daughter, Heather Villella Brewster and husband, Derek; grandchildren, Victoria, Elliot, and Connor Villella and Nicklaus and Daisy Brewster; as well as a sister, Rose Devine. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Villella.
