John Harris Krause

February 10, 1929 — January 21, 2022

Clayton- John Harris Krause passed away on Friday January 21, 2022. John was born in Dallas Pennsylvania to the late William and Bertha Krause, one of eleven children. John was a retired Air Force veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service. John was also a long-time member of the Masons currently active in the Selma NC Lodge. He was also a member of the American Legion post 71 of Clayton NC. Survivors include his wife of 67 years Nancy Cleave Krause: Daughters Donna Davis (Billy) of Garner, Darlene Krause of Clayton; Sons Dean Krause (Debbie) of Magnolia and Dennis Krause (Susan) of Castilia; Brother Keith Krause (Marie) of Florida: Grandchildren Brian Krause, Timothy Davis, Justin Krause, Jason Krause, Russell Davis and Ashley Mace. Great-Grandchildren; Dezmond, Riley, Haylie, Aubrey, Ayla, Reagan, Emery and Evelyn. After John retired, he moved his family to Wilmington NC and worked for Diamond Shamrock Petroleum plant for 23 years. When he retired from the plant within 3 months, he stated he was bored and started driving a School bus for New Hanover County for another 8 years. Finally at age 70 he retired for the 3rd time. John loved his family and enjoyed teaching his kids and grand-kids how to work on cars and woodworking. John and Nancy moved up to Selma in 2000 to be closer to 3 of his children and grandchildren. At this time due to Covid no services will be held. A private Family Celebration will be held in the coming weeks. John will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery when scheduling permits.
