John Herman Ogburn

April 6, 1935 — April 19, 2021

Willow Springs – John Herman Ogburn, Jr., 86, passed away Monday at his home. A native of Johnston County, he was the son of the late John, Sr. and Myrtle Lee Ogburn. He proudly served his country as a member of the US Army. Mr. Ogburn attended First Baptist Church of Garner for over 61 years and was a member of the Carroll Matthews Men’s Sunday School Class. He was currently serving on the Board of Directors for the 50-210 Fire Department. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Thursday at Garner First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Edith Clifton Ogburn; son, Arnie Ogburn (Gloria) of Smithfield; grandchildren, Brandon Ogburn (Hannah), Nick Ogburn (fiancée Carly), Ryan Jackson and Garrett Jackson; great grandchildren, Brodie, Chase and Zack. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Eleen Mills, Roxie Lee, Jean Carroll, Jo Ann Canady and his brother, Robert Ogburn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, 3131 – 100 RDU Center Dr., Morrisville, NC 27560 or to First Baptist Church of Garner, 601 St. Mary’s St., Garner, NC 27529.
