Garner, NC - John Leo Caruso, 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday after a long battle with COPD. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late John Leo Caruso, Sr. and Ruth Davies Caruso. He proudly served his country in the Army Reserve, the National Guard, and the United States Navy. John worked at IBM for 28 years, first in Poughkeepsie, NY and then in Raleigh, NC where he retired in 1992. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 am Friday, September 12, 2014 at St. Mary Mother of the Church Catholic Church, 1008 Vandora Springs Road, Garner, NC 27529. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Anne Caruso of Garner, NC; his son, Philip Caruso and wife, Melissa of Raleigh, NC; daughter, Mary Stager and husband, Doug of Raleigh, NC; son, Brian Caruso of Garner, NC; daughter, Carol Caruso of Cary, NC; daughter Dianne Podhany and husband Andy of Wake Forest, NC; daughter Amy Caruso of New York City, NY; and Beth Dickens and husband, Chad of Apex, NC. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Danielle Podhany, Kyle Podhany, Tucker Caruso, Joshua Dickens and Alexander Dickens. He is also survived by his siblings Ruth Sparrow of Bethel Park, PA; Joe Caruso of Bethel Park, PA; and George Caruso and wife Carol of Avon, OH.The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 1200 Benson Road, Garner, NC 27529 with a Prayer Service at 7:30 pm.
