John Staley Ogburn

November 25, 1936 — April 20, 2015

ANGIER – John Staley Ogburn, 78, passed away on Monday. A native of Johnston County he was the son of the late Joseph Lester and Ada Margaret Farmer Ogburn. Staley retired after 28 years of service with the US Postal Service. A faithful member and Ruling Elder of Plainview Presbyterian Church he spent many hours mowing the grass and maintaining the church grounds in his spare time. Funeral services will be held on Friday evening at 5:00 PM at Plainview Presbyterian Church, 2712 Plainview Church Road, Angier. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mathilda Wadsworth Ogburn, daughter, Phyllis O. Robbins and husband, Richard; sons, Michael Ogburn and Henry Ogburn all of Angier; sisters, Janice Dupree and husband, Layton of Angier; Rachel Brooks and husband, Charles of Moncure, Sally Dorman and husband, Lonnie of Coats; grandchildren, Matthew Robbins and wife Cristina, and Kelly Robbins all of Angier and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Ogburn and a sister Margaret Raper. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier and at other times at the home. Flowers are appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to Plainview Presbyterian Church, 2712 Plainview Church Rd. Angier, NC 27501 in Staley’s memory.
