John Wilton Rogers

May 22, 1930 — January 13, 2015

John Wilton Rogers, 84, died Tuesday. A native of Columbus County, he was the son of the late Frank and Ruth Barnes Rogers and served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He worked for the City of Raleigh for 34 years and retired as manager of the City Water Billing Department. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Garner serving as a deacon and assistant scout master and was a member of the Garner Lions Club. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday at First Baptist Church of Garner. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jane Castelloe Rogers; daughter, Pamela Rogers Barefoot and husband, Sam of Thomasville; grandchildren, Senator Chad Barefoot and wife, Paige of Wake Forest, Alison B. Curlee and husband, Jeff, Caroline B. Jester and husband, Zach and Keith Barefoot, all of Thomasville; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Dawson and Madelyn Curlee and Franklin Barefoot. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm Friday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Garner, New Sanctuary Building Fund, 601 St. Mary’s Street, Garner, NC 27529
