Joseph Earl Godfrey, Jr.

FUQUAY-VARINA - Joseph Earl Godfrey Jr. ‘’J.E.’’, 80, of Fuquay Varina, passed away on June 17, 2023. He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Mildred Godfrey. Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Dianne Godfrey; sister-in-law, Jean; brother-in-law, Sam, and Susan; nephews, Brent and Brandon (Amanda); niece, Samantha and many cousins.

J.E. loved his mother’s homeplace/ farm, near Duncan where he loved to go all of his life. He had so many precious memories and stories of the homeplace and his mother’s large family. He was always ready for a new adventure, boating on the St. Lawrence River, motorcycle trips, horseback riding, camping and especially attending gospel music concerts anywhere. Graduating from NC State in geology and hydrogeology led him to a career in North Carolina and Pennsylvania for 35 years. He was a member of the Landmark Quartet for 12 years in Pennsylvania. He was always excited about learning and teaching the Bible. God has another bass voice in his choir.

A funeral service for J.E. will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Angier Baptist Church, 155 S Hickory Street, Angier, NC 27501. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
