Joseph H. Phillips, Sr.

Joseph H. Phillips, Sr. (Joe), 79, of Willow Spring, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, surrounded by his family after a difficult battle with pancreatic cancer.

Joe was born on November 25, 1945, to Melvin and Repsie Phillips in Johnston County, NC. He was the 9th of 10 siblings and had a large and loving family.

In 1962, Joe met his beloved wife Linda Young at a church service, and he stated at that time, "I'm going to marry her." They were married in June of 1965.

Joe enjoyed spending time at the mountains and the beach, and anyone that knew him well, knew he could typically be found working on projects in his yard including his treasured koi fishponds.

He is survived by his wife of 59 and a half years, Linda Young Phillips, his children Tiffany (husband, Chuck) Minter, Joseph (wife, Angie) Phillips, and four loving grandchildren, Matthew, Ashley, Reagan, and Connor.

In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Ester O'Mara, Sadie Mae Bissette, Clentis Rose Capps, and Sue Creech; and brothers, Vernon Phillips, Nelson Eugene Phillips, Donald Wayne Phillips, and Percy Lee Phillips.

He is also survived by one sister, Linda Blackley, one brother-in-law, James Young, two sisters-in-law, Janice Daniels and Becky Phillips. He had numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved pets Stormy and Bandit

The family will receive friends for a period of visitation from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner. Burial will follow at Friendship Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, 744 Friendship Church Road, Middlesex, NC 27557.
