ANGIER – Joseph “Winton” Adams, 79, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ Saturday at his home surrounded by his loving family. A native of Harnett County, he was the son of the late Lacoma Adams and Alene Mangum Adams. Winton worked in drywall for 42 years as a co-owner of Adams’ Drywall with his brother, Wayne. He proudly served his country in the Army in Thailand during the Vietnam War building roads and doing general construction. In his retirement, he and Diane also enjoyed selling plants and produce at the N.C. State Flea Market for 20 years. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 15th at 2:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home Chapel, Angier. The service will be livestreamed via April Wheelers facebook page. The burial will follow with military honors at Lakeside Memorial Gardens, Angier. Winton will be available for viewing from 1:00-1:45 PM prior to the service. Winton is survived by his wife of 42 years, Diane Adams; daughter, April Wheeler (Whit) of Angier; sisters, Wyonna Johnson (Charlie) of Angier, Wincer Best of Angier; brother, Warren Adams (Donna) of Angier; grandchildren, Reid Hedgepeth (Hannah), Will Wheeler (McKenzie), Chuck Wheeler; great-grandchild, Grayson Parker Wheeler; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Chuck Cummings; sister, Wandra Raynor, brother, Wayne Adams. The family would like to thank the Durham VA Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care during his health and sickness.
