Josephine W. Simmons, 81, passed away Saturday. She was the daughter of the late William & Delia Wallace. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Weldon A. Simmons; four brothers, Fenner Thomas, William Purvis, James Howard, and Leon Earl; three sisters, Rachel Tankard, Edna Noe, and Nancy Rhem. Jo, was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a devoted homemaker and member of First Baptist Church for forty-two years. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Garner with burial to follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Jo is survived by her daughter, Beth S. Toothman and husband, Richard of Cornelius, NC; son, David Simmons and wife, Patricia of Garner; two brothers Jack Wallace and wife, June of Bath, and Dan Wallace and wife, Marquita of Goldsboro; brother-in-law Milford Simmons and wife, Regina of Morehead City, NC; grandchildren, Johanna and Michael Simmons, Trevor and Lindsey Toothman; and a large and loving extended family. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Marquita Wallace and Sarah Creel for their loving care of Mrs. Simmons. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home.
