Angier – Joy Stillwell Williams went peacefully to be with her Maker on Monday. A native of Jackson County, NC she is the daughter of the late Ephraim Posey and Julia Kinney Stillwell. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday at Angier Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Angier Cemetery. Joy is survived by her sons, Tom Williams and wife, Barbara of Fuquay-Varina, Kinney Williams and wife, Mary Edna of Raleigh; sister, Mary Stillwell Allen of Ashville; brothers, E. P. Stillwell, Jr. of Six Mile, SC, Charles Stillwell of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Jason Williams, Ginny W. Tran and Jonathan Williams; great-grandchildren, Banks Tran, Lila Tran, Joy Kate Williams, Nora Williams and Lacey Williams. In addition to her parents, Joy is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Earl Williams. The mountain girl came to the big city of Raleigh in the mid 40’s to attend Meredith College. She graduated with a degree in music education. It was during that time she met Kenneth Earl Williams. They married in 1950. Joy took pleasure in all kinds of needlework, sewing for her family and making crafts for bazaars and other community fundraisers. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. Memorial contributions may be made to The Friends of the Angier Library, 28 N.
