Joyce Baker Phipps

Joyce Baker Phipps, 93, of Raleigh died Thursday. She was born in Wake County to the late Arthur D. Baker and Dora Jones Baker. Joyce retired from Baker Roofing Company, a four generation family owned business after 63 years of employment. She graduated from Hugh Morson High School in 1935 and was a lifetime member of Caraleigh Baptist Church. She is survived by her brother, Maurice R. Baker and wife, Bonnie of Raleigh; special friend Rachel Council; nieces and nephews, Raymond Henley, Carolyn Massey, Bobbie Griffin and Pat Dunham and numerous cousins. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, William Rory Phipps and her brother, Felix Baker. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00PM Monday at Caraleigh Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00PM Sunday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road.
