Juanita Norris King

Garner - Juanita Norris King, 82, died Saturday, March 8, 2014, peacefully at the home of her granddaughter, Alison Mitchiner Kilpatrick and husband Bill. She was born in Watauga County, North Carolina on November 17, 1931, and was the wife of the late John Thomas King II, and the daughter of the late Troy and Mattie Norris. Sibling brothers include the late Bernard Norris and surviving brother Russell Norris and his wife Viola of Boone. Juanita was a graduate of Watauga County High School. She married the late John T. King II on September 6, 1953. She was an active member and officer of the First Presbyterian Church of Garner. She was a member of the Lillie Circle, and was a past Moderator of the Women of the Church. She received an honorary life membership from the Women of the Church on May 10, 2002. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. King was the Executive Director of the Wake County Unit of the American Cancer Society. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend. In recent years she found much joy in fellowship with her dear friends of the Clara Craven Book Club. Survivors include two sons, John Thomas King III; Robert Lewis King and wife Lisa of Garner; one daughter, Margot King Smith and husband Bobby of Charlotte; Son-in-Law Pete Watson of Clayton; seven grandchildren, Alison Kilpatrick, Mallory Smith, John King IV, Robert Smith, Mattie King, Jessica King, and Troy King; and two great-grandchildren, Will and Parker Kilpatrick and loving companion Clementine. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha King Watson. A memorial service honoring her life will be held on Monday, March 10, at 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Garner; reception to follow the service at the church fellowship hall. Interment will be held in Boone, NC at a later date. In lieu flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Care 960 Hwy 42 W. Clayton, NC 27520
