RALEIGH – Judith (Ann) Emory Tutt was a caring mother, grandmother, and friend. She passed away February 4, 2023, at the age of 77, and is remembered for her passions of bird watching, gardening, fishing, music, and her love for her family.
Judy was known by many as a kindhearted, loving, and spirited southern woman that never failed to light up a room with love and laughter.
She was born in Norfolk, Virginia, to loving parents, Horace and Elizabeth Emory. Judy spent her formative years in Wilson, North Carolina, where she graduated from Fike High School. Judy lived out most of her adult life in the Raleigh area where she was a lifelong IBM employee and raised two sons, Allen and Mike.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Horace Murray Emory and Elizabeth Lena [Turner] Emory, and her sister, Peggy. She is survived by her brother, Daniel R. Emory, of Lucama; her son, Lee Allen Tutt, Jr. of Clayton, his wife Debra Knittel Tutt, their two children, Joshua Connor, and Ashley Elizabeth; as well as her son, Michael Preston Tutt of Raleigh, his wife, Wendy Meiko Oshiro, and their two sons, Miles Emory, and Logan Michael.
Judy was a strong woman that fought many battles throughout her life, but her final battle was with cancer. On January 4, 2023, she decided she had fought long enough. In her final moments she was surrounded by her family and many amazing nurses that helped her feel especially loved and comforted when she needed it the most. Judy returned home to spend eternity with the Lord, her beloved parents, and best friend, Stanley.
Judy’s family will receive friends and relatives for visitation from 2:00 PM – 2:45 PM on Saturday, February 18, at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home (831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh, NC), followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM. Light refreshments will be served in the parlor after the ceremony. Her family hopes that you will join them to celebrate the life and love of Judy Tutt, Aka. Grannie.
