Judson Yates Creech

Judson Yates Creech passed away on October 3, 2016. He was born December 10, 1920 in Red Oak, N.C. to the Reverend Oscar Creech and Martha Gulley Creech.  The family moved to Ahoskie, N.C. in 1925, where his father became pastor of the Ahoskie Baptist Church. Judson attended the public schools of Ahoskie, graduating in 1938.  He then entered Wake Forest College, graduating in 1942.  Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corp officer training school at Quantico, Va.  After serving four years in the USA and Pacific operations, he was discharged as a Major. Upon completion of his service, he began his career in Raleigh in 1948 in the real estate business.  He then went on to establish Creech Construction Company where he served as President until his retirement in 1985. Judson was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Raleigh, The Carolina Country Club, The Stag Club, The Assembly, The Food Bank and the Sphinx Club.  He was a charter member of the Raleigh-Wake County Home Builders Association. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Charlotte Warren Creech. He is survived by his children David Judson Creech (Earla J. Creech), Lin Jordan (Mary Ellen Jordan) both of Raleigh, N.C., and Susan Creech Rankin (Samuel B. Rankin) of Charlotte, N.C., as well as ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 7:00PM -8:00PM in the Terrace Room in the South Village at Springmoor Retirement Community on Sawmill Rd. A memorial service will be held Friday at 1:30PM at First Baptist Church, 99 N Salisbury St. in Raleigh. A reception with the family will follow in the church fellowship hall. The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff at Springmoor Stewart Health Center and Dr. Wells Edmundson for their professional and loving care. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Endowment Fund, 99 N. Salisbury St., Raleigh, N.C. 27601; Embark Church, PO Box 2893, Orangeburg, SC 29118 or  Springmoor Retirement Community Endowment Fund, 1500 Sawmill Rd., Raleigh, N.C. 27615; or a charity of one’s choice.
