Julia Carroll Slade Murphy

January 10, 1936 — July 12, 2021

Garner – Julia Ann Carroll Slade Murphy, 85, went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Durham County, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Field Carroll and Lucy Alice Thompson Carroll. Julia loved all of her many beautiful flowers, her birds, catching a big fish and cheering at her great grandson’s soccer games. She had so much love for her family, friends and her church family. Everyone that she ever met was touched by her kindness and sweet smile. She was such an amazing mom, mom-in-law, granny and sister. We will all miss her more than words can express but we will look forward to seeing her again someday. Heaven is rejoicing! In lieu of a traditional visitation, Mrs. Murphy will lie in state from 10 AM - 2 PM on Saturday the 17th at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner for the general public to see her and sign the guest book. There will be a private graveside service at a later time. Survivors include her daughter, Nita Cotten and husband, Harold; grandson, Josh Cotten and wife, Angela; great-grandson, Blayden Cotten; sisters, Carolyn Partin and Shelby Swain. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 1st husband, John Slade; her son, Steve Slade; her 2nd husband, Frank Murphy; sister, Frances Swain and brothers, Dickie, Sammie and William Carroll.
