Karen Jean Surles Jackson

November 21, 1943 - August 26, 2012 RALEIGH - Karen Jean Surles Jackson, 68, passed away Sunday at her home. Born in Harnett County, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd George Surles and Lucy Matthews Surles. Jeans family, especially her grandkids, were her life. She loved taking photos and scrapbooking. Jean retired from Wake Medical Center after 35 years of service as a Registered Nurse. She was a longtime member of Inwood Baptist Church, where she was the leader of the Alzheimers Care Group since its inception. Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Thursday at Inwood Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Harnett Memorial Park. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth B. Jackson, Jr.; daughter, Jennifer Jackson Pounds and husband, Craig of Garner; son, Kenneth Bickmore Jackson III of Raleigh; sisters, Kathi Minter and Carolyn Collins; brothers, Donnie and Stuart Surles; grandchildren, Hannah and Rebekah Pounds and Ashtyn Jackson, as well as Rah-Rah, her cat. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, D.T. Surles. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Wednesday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner.
