Katherine Norton Wilson

Katherine Norton Wilson, 89, died Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Rex Cardiac Center. She was born July 31, 1927 in Laurel Hill, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Nell and Eugene Norton. She attended Peace College, was Miss Fayetteville in 1942, worked for the News and Observer as secretary to Frank Daniels for twenty years and for the North Carolina Museum of Art. She was active at First Presbyterian Church as a Sunday school teacher, serving as president of the Koinonia Class and attended many Bible Studies. Small in stature and tall in perseverance, she loved her family and extended family above all and her dogs were always a part of her life. Surviving is her daughter, Leita Perry; her step-daughter, Laurie Whiteside; and her sister-in-law, Carolyn Altman; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband Lawrence C “Larry” Wilson in 2015; and son, Mark C. Wilson. A Funeral Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 2:00 pm, with Entombment following at Historic Oakwood Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
