Kathleen Dorothy Sullivan

APEX – Kathleen Dorothy Sullivan, 80, passed peacefully from the arms of her two children to the arms of Jesus Christ on June 11, 2024. A native of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late Frank J. Lyons and Adele H. Verrier.

Kathleen was loved by everyone who knew her. She was extremely outgoing and sociable, always willing to host people in her home, and never met a stranger who wasn’t a friend. She was an incredibly selfless mother who did the job of two parents by raising two great kids against all odds. She was cherished by her grandchildren and they were the joy of her life. She loved each one dearly and enjoyed participating in all of their interests.

Over the years, Kathy loved traveling with her best friends. Most destinations included great food, plenty of sunshine, and long stretches of beach. She loved talking about Jesus and reading her Bible with other women. She loved playing scrabble, rummikub, and bingo. She had a great sense of style and humor.

Kathy served her church family faithfully and gracefully by caring for children, greeting people, and always sharing encouraging words with others. She always lit up when the littles would run to her and give her a big hug.

In addition to her parents, Kathy is preceded in death by her sister Frances Lyons.

Kathy is survived by her loving children, Mary Sullivan Strynar (Mark) & Patrick Mark Sullivan; her siblings, Maureen Healey & Raymond Lyons; and grandchildren, Jonathan Strynar, Sarah Strynar, Timothy Strynar, Maeve Sullivan, and Caden Sullivan.

On July 13th we will celebrate Kathy’s life at Triangle Community Church. The Memorial Service will begin at 10:30am with a reception lunch to follow.
