Kathy Lynn Creech

GARNER - Kathy Lynn Creech was born on August 29, 1956 and left this world on November 19, 2017. Kathy is survived by her parents Joe G. Creech, Sr. and Phyllis B. Creech; brother Joe G. Creech, Jr. and wife Jenny; niece Sarah Elizabeth Creech and nephew Stephen Garner Creech. Kathy was a beautiful young woman who attracted friends wherever she went.   As a high school student, she was a spirited cheerleader and a no-nonsense bus driver.  Known for her love of animals, she rescued many strays including a raccoon. After graduation from Garner Senior High School, Kathy spent a semester at East Carolina University.  While at college, Kathy’s focus was her friends: They enjoyed being together whether it was playing an afternoon game of pick-up football or holding a late-night hair styling session.  As a result of one of the games, Kathy injured her back and spent a few weeks in Pitt Memorial Hospital. After recovering from her back injury, Kathy decided to leave ECU and moved to Florida.  Kathy and her dogs managed A1A Sun Shop in St. Augustine.  As a new Floridian, Kathy enjoyed all types of water activities like skiing and boating. Kathy was injured in a car accident in 1979.  Many family friends and Garner neighbors volunteered to assist her family in caring for her after the accident.  Due to the severity of her injury, Kathy never fully recovered although she fought bravely.   She was faithfully attended by many caregivers, church members, and her parents. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday November 22, 2017 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 at the funeral home prior to the service.
