Kaye Hyman Buffaloe, 81, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2021 in Austin, Texas. Kaye was a 75-year resident of North Carolina until moving to Austin to be with her grandchildren for her final years. Kaye was born August 10, 1939 in Oak City, NC. She is the daughter of Frances Council Hyman and Murray Eugene Hyman. She graduated from Oak City High School in 1957 and continued her education at East Carolina University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Education in 1961. After graduation from East Carolina, Kaye worked at the North Carolina Department of Agriculture where she met her future husband, William Buffaloe. After several years in the work force, Kaye returned to school to earn a degree in Education from Meredith College. Kaye dedicated the rest of her career, until retirement, to teaching children in Garner, North Carolina. While Kaye taught several different elementary school grade levels, the majority of her career was as a first grade teacher at Garner Elementary. Kaye and William B. Buffaloe, Jr were married on August 11, 1963 at Ernest Myatt Presbyterian Church in Garner, NC. Kaye and Bill were married for 56 years when Bill passed away in 2020. In addition to her parents, Kaye was preceded in death by her late husband William Bryant Buffaloe, and her brothers Eugene Hyman and Nathan Council Hyman. She is survived by her daughter Tiffany Buffaloe Kamm, son-in-law Jay Kamm, grandchildren Will and Katie Kamm, all of Austin, TX; her sister Maxine Smith of Roxboro, NC; brother and sister-in-law Wallace and Lesley Hyman of Cary, NC; brother Wayne and sister-in-law Millie Hyman of Brevard, NC; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 10th at 11:00 AM at Ernest Myatt Presbyterian Church, Raleigh. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ernest Myatt Presbyterian Church.
