Keith Haywood

November 22, 1946 — January 9, 2018

Frederick “Keith” Haywood, 71, of Angier, passed away January 9, 2018 in the presence of his close family at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield after a long battle with diabetes. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM at Angier Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service at the church. A private burial will take place at a later date. Born on November 22, 1946 in Moore County, he was raised in the small Sandhill’s town of Ellerbe, NC and was the son of the late Elmo and Irene Haywood. Survivors include his wife of almost 49 years, Frances O’Quinn Haywood of Angier; daughter, Joyce Renn Andrews and her husband, Rodney Andrews of Clayton; son, George Keith Haywood and his wife, Jennifer Dupree Haywood of Four Oaks. Grandchildren are Blake and Kyle Andrews, Brooklyn and Kelsey Haywood. Keith graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1970 from North Carolina State University.  He worked with CP&L for 26 years as an electrical engineer. During that time he was project and senior engineer in the Fuquay and Raleigh areas, until his retirement in 1996.  He then worked contract projects for 5 years in the triangle area and Fayetteville. He served in the United States Army where he was stationed at Fort Greeley, Alaska for 2 years.  He was an active member for many years at the Angier Baptist Church and a Boy Scout Leader in the community.  He also served on the board at the Angier Recreation Club for over 15 years. He was an amateur photographer for family and friends and loved taking pictures of his grandchildren and family. He loved to travel and sight-see, especially in the mountains.  He enjoyed spending time with extended family, cousins, and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Diabetes Association or SECU Hospice House in Smithfield.
