Kenneth Lee Coats

Kenneth Lee Coats, 65, of Smithfield, NC, entered heaven’s gates on Monday, October 10. He was the second son of Van L. and Dora M. Coats of Garner.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 14th at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Garner. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 – 1:45 PM in the Shiloh Baptist Church Heritage Building, Garner.

Ken graduated from Garner Sr. High in 1975, worked for Jessie Jones Sausage Co., Pine State Creamery, the State of NC, and Keener Lumber Co.

He loved being outdoors, assisting with yard work, and driving his truck. His gentle spirit will be missed.

Ken is survived by his brother, Van L. Coats (Ann); nephew, Nat R. Coats (Stephanie); great nephew, Rylan Coats; Uncle, Thomas Maynard (Gibsonville); Aunt, Betty Wright (Wilson); several cousins.

The family wishes to thank Pine Knoll Manor of Smithfield, Shiloh Baptist Church of Garner, and especially Rosa Hood of Johnston Mental Health for her kind, compassionate care of Ken.
