Kenneth Ray Doyle, Sr.

ANGIER - Mr. Kenneth Ray Doyle, Sr., age 95 of Angier, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Brookdale MacArthur Park Facility in Cary, NC.


Funeral services will be private with a family-only graveside ceremony.


Ken was born May 11, 1929, in Winston-Salem, NC to Jessie Crews Doyle and Nellie Grey Martin Doyle. He was a member of Angier Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, Treasurer, and RA Leader in previous years. Ken also served with the local Meals on Wheels program. He graduated from Hanes High School in Winston-Salem where he played football and baseball, and then attended Duke University and graduated from Wake Forest University. He worked and retired from Dorothea Dix Hospital as Accounting Director in 1987 after 31 years of service. He was also a Veteran of the US Air Force and served during the Korean War. Ken served in Angier Kiwanis Club where he was a past President. In his spare time, Ken farmed and loved playing and watching sports. Near retirement, he took up playing golf (left-handed) and became an accomplished golfer, even recording a hole in one.


He was preceded in death by his parents.


Ken is survived by his wife, Barry Benson Barefoot Doyle of their home; his 3 sons, Kenneth Ray Doyle, Jr. and wife, Cathy Oliver Doyle of Cookville, TN, and 2 grandsons, Nick Doyle (Julia) and Chris Doyle (Mariah); David Crews Doyle and wife, Brenda Michael Doyle of Wilkesboro, NC and granddaughter, Monica Doyle Bass (Joey); and John Aldos Doyle of Chapel Hill, NC; daughter, Kathleen Doyle Garnier (Drew) of Raleigh, NC and 3 grandsons, Matthew Garnier (Giovanna), Patrick Garnier, and Jacob Garnier; 4 great grandchildren, Sidney Doyle, Parker Doyle, Cohen Bass, and Remi Bass.


The family would like to express thanks to Amedysis Hospice for the love and care given to Ken.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Angier Baptist Church or the Angier Kiwanis Club.
