Kirby Ray Williams, 84, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on May 11, 2022. A Johnston County native, he was born November 1, 1937, to the late Elton and Ida Knowles Williams. He graduated from Lafayette High School. Kirby spent most of his adult life in Wake County, working with Carolina Trailways for more than 5 years, before starting his career with Flue-Cured Tobacco Stabilization, before retiring after 37 years of service. Kirby loved his church and was a member of Highland Baptist Church for many years, where he was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class, an usher, and a member of the Young at Heart. He loved fishing and spending time with his grandchildren, Hunter and Hannah, as well as his entire family. Kirby was a great husband, father, grandfather (Papa), brother, uncle, and friend to all. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, May 16, 2022, at 1PM, in the Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel in Garner. Burial will be at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh, Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at 3PM. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, May 15, from 5-7PM at the funeral home. Kirby is survived by his wife of 44 years, Yvonne Sauls Williams; daughters Angela Hunt Johnson and husband, Randy and Cheryl Williams Fox and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Hunter and Hannah Johnson and Matthew Fox and Morgan Pearce; great grandchildren, Lincoln and Charli Pearce; sister, Brenda Williams Dean; and a sister-in-law, Cleo Sauls Sorrell. In addition to his parents, Kirby was preceded in death by two sons, Marty Ray and Michael Derrick Williams and two brothers, Clarence Lee and Alfred Williams.
