Kurt James Light, 61, of Garner, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2024 after a fierce two-year health battle.
Kurt was born on May 23, 1962 to Ann & Herbert Light - in New Haven, Connecticut. Kurt graduated from UCONN in 1984, where he met his college sweetheart, Karen. He then went on to continue his studies in Prosthetics & Orthotics at Northwestern University.
Kurt’s passion drove him to start his own Prosthetics & Orthotics practice in 1985, where his care and compassion for others truly shined.
Soon after, Kurt and Karen married on September 7, 1985 and later had son, Kevin, followed by daughter, Kelsey.
In Kurt’s free time, he treasured time with family, and trips to the beaches and mountains of NC. He loved maintaining cars and tinkering on projects. This tinkering included fixing dirt bikes as a kid, and as a father he passed on the love for riding to Kevin and Kelsey. Kurt enjoyed riding motorcycles and playing computer games. He loved listening (and dancing!) to all types of music and it wasn’t uncommon for the family to receive a link for a newfound song or old favorite.
Kurt’s faith in God was the driving force behind his love and care for others. His spirit of generosity was unmatched, he welcomed people into his home like they were family, and always asked, “Is there anything I can do for you?”
.
Kurt was predeceased by his mother, Ann; father, Herbert; sister, Susan Anton; and brother, Mark Light. He is survived by his wife, Karen; son, Kevin; daughter, Kelsey; daughter-in-law Heidi; & granddaughter, Hazel; as well as his sister-in-law, uncle, and his nieces and nephews.
