L. Jack Hamilton

Willow Spring- Jack Hamilton, 69, passed away peacefully on Sunday Oct 16, 2016 following a hard fought battle with lung cancer.  He was born in Angier, NC to the late Ollie and Lovenia Hamilton and was also predeceased by his daughter Stacie Hamilton Stanley and brother Sherwood Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton was a retired Captain with the Raleigh Fire Department where he was one of the first two arson investigators. He was a 32 degree Past Master of Apex Masonic Lodge 584. He was a licensed private aircraft pilot and held an instrument rating. He was a man of many talents, truly a jack of all trades.  His greatest interest was auto racing, both as a local short track car owner as well as a Nascar team member. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Sue Hamilton; son, Joey Hamilton; daughter, Wendy Hamilton Ward; stepson, Jeffrey Warren; stepdaughter, Melissa Vaughan; brothers, D.H. Hamilton, Gerald Hamilton, and Jerry Hamilton; sisters  Shirley Seagroves, Sherlyn Dennis; eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Bryan Lee Funeral Home in Angier. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 am at Friendship Baptist Church, 416 Greenleaf Rd, Angier, NC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery after the service.  Flowers are welcome or please consider a memorial contribution in Jack’s name to an animal rescue or your favorite charity.
