On Monday, April 19, 2021 Larry Logan, 69, unexpectedly passed away at Rex Hospital.
Larry will be remembered as many things by people: a loving husband, an amazing father (in-law), a compassionate brother, a fierce leader, a trusted friend, but his greatest fans will remember him as the world’s greatest Pops-his grandchildren.
Born March 30, 1952 in Charles City, Iowa to Robert Logan and Doris Greenzweig, Larry began his adult life serving our country as a U.S. Marine. Once he returned from the Vietnam War, Larry married his high school sweetheart, Rita. With nothing but their dreams and $900 to their name, the newlyweds packed up their 1974 Ford and moved to Orlando, FL, where their 47-year love story began.
Prior to retiring in 2017, Larry began his career working at Disney World for a short stint, before getting his start in the trucking industry. One of Larry’s favorite memories was taking his son, Josh, with him on cross country trucking trips. Larry went on to start his own trucking company, Logan Trucking. In 1998 Larry and Rita decided to move to the Carolinas. Larry went on to find success in the residential construction industry. While Larry had a very successful career, his greatest accomplishments were his children, Josh, and Brittany.
When Larry was not working, you could find him spending his time with his family, traveling, watching DYI shows, antique shopping, reading, or working on a home remodeling project. He was lovingly known as Bob the Builder by Rita. He will be remembered for his quick wit, infectious smile, and his kind spirit.
Larry is preceded in death by his father, Robert Logan and mother, Doris Greenzweig. He is survived by his wife, Rita Logan; son, Joshua Logan and wife, Megan Logan; daughter, Brittany Logan and fiancé Jason Thompson; sister, Barbara Jones; brother, Rodney Logan and wife Judy; step brother, Jay Greenzweig and wife Cindy; his four grandchildren, Isabella Logan, Layan Logan, Jacob Logan, and Liam Thompson.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Raleigh. Interment with military honors will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
