Larry Wilson Duncan

April 9, 1937 — April 9, 2020

ANGIER-Larry Wilson Duncan, 83, passed away Thursday at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. A native of Harnett County, he is the son of the late Daner Price Duncan and Wallace Jay Duncan. Larry was a quiet and gentle man that enjoyed gardening and raising chickens until his declining health no longer allowed him to do so. His greatest pleasure came from growing vegetables and sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Brenda Kaye Duncan; daughter, Sherrie Duncan Gregory (Marty) of Angier; son, Wallace Jay Duncan (Stephanie) of Linden; sister, Virginia Barnes (Douglas) of Garner; brother, Tommy Duncan (Mary Lou) of Angier; brother-in-law, Jonah Weaver of Angier; grandchildren, Nathaniel Duncan, Sarah and Shelby Temple; his beloved pets, “Pee Wee” and “Peaches”; and a host of special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Alice Weaver. Larry will be available for viewing on Friday, April 10th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. Due to the current circumstances and limitations on gatherings, there will be a private family graveside service to honor Larry. The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Amber Renn, Dr. Rajesh Vakani, and hospice nurse Heather for the care they provided during his illness. We are also appreciative of the many special visitors that dropped in, brought food, and called to check on Larry-we feel truly blessed. A special thanks to Heartland Hospice for the tender loving care they provided during the last six months of his life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Larry to the SECU Hospice House, 426 Hospital Road, Smithfield, NC 27577 or Heartland Hospice, 4505 Falls of Neuse Road, Raleigh, NC 27609 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
