Garner - Lawrence “Larz” John Skelson, III, 22, passed away on Monday. Larz was a gentle giant that loved unconditionally. He worked for the City of Raleigh-Parks and Recreation as an Attractions Operator and held a black belt in karate. His smile lit up his face and the room and his hugs were legendary. His laughter was infectious. His love of God was evident every day in the compassion he felt for others and how he put others hurt above his own. He always asked how your day was and wanted everyone he knew to be happy. Larz never knew a stranger. If he just met you, you were his friend. If he talked to you twice, you were his best friend. His capacity to remember every little thing he did was amazing. His little 6 yr. old cousin, JJ, thought he was “sweet and kind” as did so many that met him. He found joy in the simplest things, like just taking a ride around town or a great meal. He loved playing games, talking to his friends, walking in the park and watching tv. His favorite show was Dr. Who and could remember the most obscure scenes in so many movies. Larz is survived by his parents, Lawrence Skelson Jr. and Jennifer Skelson; younger brother, Logan and his loving dogs Kiana and Gracie. He is also survived by his grandmothers, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that in Larz’s honor, memorial contributions be made to the Autism Society of North Carolina 5121 Kingdom Way #100, Raleigh, NC 27607.
